Domestic Home Boarding. Dogs love it!

Let your dogs enjoy tender loving care…

while you enjoy your holiday

A great big welcome to our website from our dogs and us. We look forward to welcoming your dogs to our home for a happy holiday, not a kennel in site.

About us

The business is owned and run by Jackie and Mike Vickers. Who have many years experience of caring for dogs. Now retired from working in a professional capacity with people, for which they were both well qualified, they are putting their skills to use working with their favourite four legged friends.

“Having dogs for many years we have reluctantly had to use a number of Kennels. The journey to the kennels was always so difficult, and the anxiety whilst away on holiday often took the edge off our breaks. So we decided to follow our passion providing a real holiday home for your dogs.”

Our philosophy

We believe dogs live in the moment and need strong pack leadership. We aim to meet their three basic needs for Exercise, Discipline and Affection. This means they quickly attach themselves to us and relax.

We are very careful when first meeting a dog to observe the dog etiquette. To allow the dog to come to us, not to give eye contact and to maintain a calm assertive energy, this we have also found helps them to relax much more

Once you have visited, and booked, you can then relax and look forward to your holiday without feeling any pangs of guilt about kennelling your dog.

We are committed to creating the best Dog Boarding facilities in the country and are determined to ensure your dog relaxes and enjoys their stay with us as much as you enjoy your holiday.

We have trained to be life coaches with humans in our previous work lives but are now undertaking training in Dog Psychology. Jackie has also trained to be a professional groomer and has her own spa and grooming salon on site.  We want to provide your dog with a five star service, so whilst you are enjoying your break they are also having the time of their life.

Our Services

Facilities

We have a really nice size detached house in its own grounds where your dogs will have a wide choice of spaces to play, rest and sleep.

Our lounge has a log burner, so in winter we can all relax in the evening whilst listening to music. The dogs of course are invited to join us and relax after a busy day.

We spend quite a lot of time in our kitchen sitting by the warmth of the Aga. Baskets both by the Aga and under the kitchen table are generally inviting to our guests.

We have a large garden, a south facing patio, an orchard and nearly half an acre of paddock for your dog to play in or just stroll around. Once the winter departs we tend to spend more time out in the garden then in the house, so your dogs will get hours of freedom outside with us.

Sleeping arrangements
Your dog will have the choice of sleeping in the kitchen, hall, dining room, conservatory or one of our four bedrooms which is where most of them choose.  They will have the option of snuggling up on a human bed or in one of the numerous dog beds scattered around the place.

Meals
Mealtimes are very important to us all, we prepare and serve food according to your instructions and feed dogs in separate areas of the house and garden so that they can relax and eat at their leisure. Our charges include standard pet food products. We feed Natural Instinct which is a Biologically Appropriate Raw Feed (BARF). We also have a range of complete dry food as well as traditional tinned meat and biscuit mixers. If your dog is on a special diet we ask that you bring the food along.

Transport
We provide a delivery and collection service within Sheffield if needed. Charges are £15.00 for collection and £15.00 for delivery back.

Grooming

Jackie has completed a professional groomer’s course and she now has a separate Grooming Salon on site with a Spa bath. The Salon is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday for appointments.

The grooming room and spa service is designed to be a relaxing one to one experience. You will be able to have an initial discussion with Jackie to agree the details of the groom.

To book a groom please use the Contact Us page, or give Jackie a ring on 0114 2394350 for further information.

Keeping in contact
Though most people are happy to get away knowing their dog is in safe hands, you are welcome to contact us, or follow us on Facebook to check how your dog is getting on. Jackie will often send picture messages to your phone.

FAQs

What about Insurance?
Your dog will be covered by our third party liability insurance whilst with us. We do recommend that you have pet insurance for any health care costs.

Do you provide Day Care?
This service is greatly in demand and welcomed by our customers. If you are having a busy time or need to go away for a long day we will take care of your dog throughout the day

We also provide a pickup and play service, where we collect your dog from home in the morning, bring them to play in our secure field and then drop them off in the afternoon.

What do I need to provide for my dog?
You do not need to bring anything, however if there is a special blanket or toy that you think will make your dog more at home then please bring it.

Do we need to arrange an initial meeting?
Yes. It is important that we meet to ensure you are happy with the arrangements and that your dog is introduced to our dogs. If you are happy with the arrangements we will require a booking form and deposit to guarantee you the assigned days.

Will you exercise my dog whilst on holidays?
Yes. We will exercise your dog off lead in our secure garden and paddock for at least one hour a day. In good weather your dog will probably be in the garden most of the day with us. Whilst in our care your dog will have plenty of socialization and fun because they will interact with other “canine friends”.

Who are the Carers?
Your dogs will be looked after as part of our family by Jackie and Mike the business owners, with the support of Jon our son. We are all very experienced carers with many years of dog management between us.

What if my dog becomes ill on holiday?
If your dog is not well while staying with us we will contact you, or your chosen emergency contact immediately, to discuss treatment options. We will endeavour to take them to your regular vet if located nearby. Alternatively, we will take them to our vet.

How do I book my dog on a holiday?
Please contact us using the contact page or via phone or email to check availability

How many dogs will you care for at one time?
We are licensed to care for eight dogs at a time; we aim to have four boarding dogs and four dogs with us for day care each day.

Do you need to see proof of vaccinations?
Yes. We need to check that your dog has a current vaccination certificate.

Our dog Perro can be nervous with other dogs, he loves daycare at Mutlins, he runs up the drive in anticipation, is more confident around other dogs, and it’s a reassurance that he can stay somewhere and feel happy if we go away.

Wendy

Thank you very much for looking after my Frankie so well today, he loved his time with you, I now have one very tired and content little pug. He is looking forward to coming to see you again next month.
